Description: | Description: A thousand-year-old property located on the hills of the appellation, 52 hectares of vines surrounded by protective forests. They also benefit from the influence of gravel and sand soils conducive to their development. Illustrious owners have left their mark on the estate. Among the most prestigious are Thomas de Montaigne (brother of Michel de Montaigne) and the Marquis de SĂŠgur. In 1960, the Capbern-Gasqueton family, also owners of Château Calon-SĂŠgur, acquired the vineyard. But, in reality, the estate has been experiencing a new impetus since 1997, the year of its acquisition by Eric Albada Jelgersma, a Dutch businessman already known in Margaux since already owner of Château Giscours. The 2011 Les Hauts du Tertre is a beautiful wine, charming, flexible enough to be enjoyed today but will continue to develop until 2024-2025. We find aromas of red currants, gravel, and iron-ore. The palate has vibrant acidity offering the backbone for continued development as it shows some very nice tertiary flavors of dried currants, tobacco, cocoa, and gravelly loam. Food pairing: Roasted or grilled meats (duck, game, lamb, beef), stew, liver, eggplant, hard cheese, filet mignon, grilled tofu, venison, etc. |
