Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

Vintage: 2020
Description: Established in 1731 by Michel Bouchard in Beaune, France, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy's oldest wine estates. Initially a cloth merchant, Michel's son, Joseph Bouchard, began selling wines and acquiring vineyards in 1746, laying the foundation for the family's winemaking legacy. In 1995, the Bouchard family sold the firm to Joseph Henriot, integrating it into the Henriot family group. Today, Bouchard Père & Fils owns 130 hectares of vineyards across Burgundy, including 12 hectares classified as Grand Cru and 74 hectares as Premier Cru. Notable holdings include significant plots in Corton-Charlemagne and Le Corton, acquired in 1909, where the vines benefit from ideal exposures and soil conditions, producing elegant and powerful wines. The estate's commitment to quality is further exemplified by their state-of-the-art, gravity-fed winery, completed in 2005, which allows for gentle handling of grapes and wines. With nearly three centuries of winemaking expertise, Bouchard Père & Fils continues to produce wines that reflect the rich terroir of Burgundy, honoring traditions while embracing modern advancements in viticulture and winemaking.
