| Description: | Description: Tiago Sampaio is the innovative young winemaker of Folias de Baco, a project he started in 2007 after agricultural studies at Santo Tirso. Tiago then completed his PhD studies in Oregon for Viticulture and Enology. Tiago picked up on modern philosophies and the aesthetics of winemaking, while never forgetting his roots in the Douro. Tiago decided to return home to create his estate that has garnered much attention. Specifically located in the Alto Douro, in the sub-region of Cima-Corgo â" where the land is rough, tough and challenging â" you will find his vines clinging to the slopes of schist and granite at an altitude between 500-700m. The Vinhas Velhas Branco Reserva displays deep straw yellow color with aromas of yellow plum, straw, and peach pits. The palate reveals hints of mineral stone, dried honey, Meyer lemon, and oxidaises. Medium-bodied wine with a really nice unfiltered texture of nectarine and/or peach pith. Food pairings: Cheese (cheddar, muenster, brie) crepes, oyster, duck confit, seafood, spicy dishes, Indian cuisine, chutney, etc. |
