Aveleda Vihno Verde (Magnum Bottle)
Loureira,Treixadura
Description: | Rating The Branco, with just "Aveleda Vinho Verde" onthe front label, is the stereotypical Vinho Verde, or what producers refer to as a "classic style." It is a blend of 40% Loureiro, 30% Arinto, 20% Trajadura and 10% Azal. It has 15 grams of sugar, a lot of fizz and 9.5% alcohol. Sourced from young vines (six years), this is nicely done in its style, a friendly, fun and tasty wine. The acidity matches the sugar well, so it doesn't seem cloying or annoyingly sweet, just off dry. Chill it down well and enjoy it in warm weather. This style sometimes makes me think it is more along the lines of beer or cider than a wine, but it is undeniably enjoyable on a hot day. Aveleda does a great job with it here, showing reasonable concentration for this level to go with the fresh and fizzy feel. Admittedly, this is not the most vintage-sensitive style. They are pretty consistent, but this does seem particularly nice this year, likely to exceed expectations if you drink it as young as possible. (Wine Advocate Review). |
