The wine shows the ambitions of this property but things are not as effortless as in the brilliant 2016 from La Fleur Petrus - my guess is that the gravel soils suffered just a touch more than usual in the heat of the summer. 3.9pH. It is almost decadent, but it is very delineated and in no way seems over-powering. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe and "solid" tannins, wonderful acidity and pure black, truffle infused fruit. Where it just falls a little short is towards the finish, which does not possess the complexity and sophistication of the 2018 Trotanoy tasted alongside.
