Renato Ratti Barbera d'Asti Battaglione

Vintage: 2019
Description: ~ 89 Pts Stephen Tanzer Very good lift to the aromas of sappy blackberry, black cherry, licorice, chocolate and flowers. Broad, dense and sweet, with very good intensity and harmonious framing acidity to the ripe flavors of candied berries and chocolate. At once silky and energetic, finishing with a broad dusting of supple tannins. Wine maker notes Starting with vintage 2009 we have decided to bottl e some Barbera from the Villa Pattono vineyards in Costigliole d'Asti. The wine is a classic Barbera d'Asti, with a good body and good aging potential (6-10 years). Food pairing A wine suited for important first courses and red meats. Producer In 1965, Renato Ratti bought his first vineyard for the production of Barolo, in the historical zone of Marcenasco, right below the Abbey of L'Annunziata at La Morra. In 1969, his nephew, Massimo Martinelli, joined the company and together, they perfected a technique of vinification, maturation and refinement for their Marcenasco Barolo, with the declared aim of obtaining the elegance, subtlety and longevity worthy of the variety's full potential. Since then, Renato Ratti has become an important point of reference for Langhe wines and Italian wines in general.
