| Description: | In 1970, Enrique Forner founded Marqués de Cáceres Unión Vitivinícola S.a., a historic alliance of growers in the village of Cenicero in the Rioja Alta subregion of Rioja. The enterprising Forner family has been devoted to the wine trade for five generations. Their search for the best vine growers and vineyards in Rioja and the introduction of a Bordeaux concept revolutionized the production and business model of the region. They work with one single objective: producing the highest quality wines. Today this obsession continues to be the leitmotif of Cristina Forner, the fifth generation of this distinguished wine family. Their Crianza here is made from a selection of small plots in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa produce low yields from older vines, and all the grapes are hand-picked. The soils are p redominantly clayey-limestone. Parcels in Rioja Alta have ferrous under-soil but are far more chalky in Rioja Alavesa. The resulting wine has a ruby red color of medium intensity. Complex aromas of black fruits, combined with balsamic notes and delicate, refined, well-balanced oak. The nuances play a skillfully harmonious game. A gentle bouquet of fine leather with a touch of peppermint, adding to the freshness of the taste. It is a well-balanced wine that invites enjoyment with each glass. Full-bodied, frisky tannins, delicious in the mouth and pleasantly refreshing. It is an elegant, harmonious wine with velvety tannins. |
