Wine Advocate 90 - 92 Points - " The most reserved of Perrot-Minot's communal appellations is the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Murgers des Cras, a blend of declassified premiers crus. Unwinding in the glass with notions of cassis, orange rind, peonies and smoky berry fruit, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and tightly wound, with lively acids and powdery tannins. The darling of the Francophone wine press, Christophe Perrot-Minot, continues his evolution in the direction of textural finesse and aromatic range: the extraction and richness of yesteryear have given way to melting tannins and ethereal aromas, exemplified by a beautiful set of 2019s. In recent vintages, despite that turn toward elegance, I had found the sheer sweetness of Perrot-Minot's wines a little overwhelming: his concentrated yet supple 2016s were, I felt, encumbered by fruit of almost confectionery sweetness despite their undeniable vivacity. These 2019s, tasted from barrel, unracked, were just as polished but more sapid and savory, and I eagerly look forward to revisiting them from bottle. As readers may know, Perrot-Minot now farms organically and is currently seeking certification. Barrels are mostly sourced from Franois Frres and the forest of Jupilles, he tells me, and a maximum of 30% new are employed." |
