Grattamacco is Bolgheri's second Super Tuscan estate — only Tenuta San Guido, whose Sassicaia vineyards abut those of Grattamacco, preceded it — and it has always held a special place in the hearts of savvy wine lovers. Grattamacco, now owned by ColleMassari who also owns Poggio di Sotto in Montalcino, spans 67 acres across one of Bolgheri's only hills. Grattamacco may rest in the shadows of its more famous neighbors, but its wines are first class, and in-the-know buyers snap up the estate's small output of elegant, finessed, and silky every chance they get. |
