| Description: | Merlet C² Café & Cognac combines the know-how of liqueur and distiller of Merlet, highlighting two classics "after-meal". Merlet partnered with a roaster in their region, Merling in La Rochelle, to select the origin and variety of coffee (Arabica from Brazil), and to work directly on freshly roasted coffee beans. The roasted and ground coffee of the day is immediately infused in hot water. The resulting aqueous coffee infusion is stabilized by the addition of excess alcohol, and then filtered. Cognac is then mixed, representing a minimum of 50% of the alcoholic ingredients. Finally sugar is added to obtain the final liquor. The aromatic intensity is exceptional, and the moderate sugar content keeps the natural bitterness of the coffee, for pure tasting or on ice. Many other applications exist. Color: Intense and deep. Nose: The nose is powerful and begins with hints of hot coffee, roasted toast and vanilla. Cognac follows and delicately completes the aromatic palette. Palate: The palate is round and smooth with a very good length. The flavors of coffee, spices and vanilla are present, sublimated by a hint of cocoa. The association of cognac and coffee liquor expresses a perfect harmony. |
