Limerick Lane Zinfandel

Limerick Lane Zinfandel

From Russian River Valley

Vintage: 2019
Description: "The 2019 Zinfandel from Russian River Valley has a medium ruby-purple color and graphite-streaked red and blue berry fruits on the nose plus hints of floral perfume. The palate is soft, juicy and appealing, with spicy, plush fruit and a long, uplifted finish." (wa). "The 2019 Zinfandel (Russian River Valley) is bright and full of energy. Ripe red/purplish berry fruit, rose petal, spice, lavender and mint are front and center in this refreshing Russian River Zinfandel. Floral notes and bright acids perk up the finish. This is such a gorgeous wine, and also a great introduction to this lineup. The Russian River Zinfandel is really a Zinfandel-based field blend from Limerick Lane and a handful of other properties, including Banfield, Collins, Sodini and Ponzo." (vm). "Very much marked by the energy of youth and showing a certain brightness and extra bounce in its step, this gregariously fruity, medium-full-bodied Zin smacks of boysenberries, blueberries and a hint of ripe cherries with a whisper of sweet oak joining in. It is just a tad tight, yet its flavors last and last, and, if admittedly not quite as rich as its pricier partners from 2018, it is a very good, well-focused wine that gets right to the varietal point now and is balanced to age very well. Reviewed: January 2021" (cg). Winery Notes:. Our Russian River Zinfandel is our flagship wine. Originally planted by Italians at the start of the 1900's, this wine hearkens back, in some ways, to a different time. While seamless and with an unparalleled clarity of flavor and aromas, there is also an undeniable gravity that Limerick Lane Zinfandel seems to exude. It may be nothing more than a romantic appreciation for the hands that have tended these vines for over a century. It's possible that it is a result of the other varieties, now all but extinct, save for a few old Zinfandel vineyards like Peloursin, Negrette, and Petite Sirah, that add more structure, color, and acid than normally found in Zinfandel. Maybe the rocks, the dirt, the morning fog and the afternoon sun come together in this place a little differently than anywhere else. It may even be all of these special characteristics combined, but the Zinfandel grown at the end of this little lane is undeniably special, undeniably unique, and undeniably "Limerick Lane."
