Heresztyn-Mazzini Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Les Millandes

Description: | Burghound (Allen Meadows) 90-93 Outstanding. "This is also fairly toasty though again it's not so much as to mask the nicely complex nose that lays out an array of spiced plum, violet and plenty of earth scents. The delicious, muscular and intense broad-shouldered flavors possess fine concentration and outstanding persistence on the robust finish where the wood influence reappears. This is a very serious if mildly oaky wine that should also reward extended cellaring. (vinified with 60% whole clusters)." (January, 2019). Jasper Morris 92-94. "From approximately 70 year old vines. They pick this early to avoid over-ripeness. 60% whole bunch. Rich, dark, dense purple. Very good heart to it, the whold bunches show up at the back. Slightly softer pure red fruit through the middle. Fine grained tannins, very attractive." (December, 2018). Vinous Media (Neal Martin) 90-92. "The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes 1er Cru matures in 30% new oak with 70% whole bunch fruit from the 70-year old vines, which is the source for the domaine's massal selection. This tends to be picked earlier than the other vineyard in order to obtain freshness. The bouquet is very refined and quite intense with black cherries, boysenberry and hints of liquorice lending an exotic note to the aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin (reminding me of a "mini-Latricières!"), but with fine grip on the finish. It will require three or four years in bottle." (January, 2019) |
