Sauvignon Blanc

Vintage: 2015
Description: Wine maker notes The vineyards that form the appellation of Tourainecenter around the city of Tours and border the Loire River, stretching from the Sologne region to the edge of Vienne and Anjou. With a south-southwest exposure, grapes stem from trellised Sauvignon Blanc vines that average 25 years of age and are set in clay, limestone soils 328 feet above sea level. Pioneers in sustainable farming, the Chainier family were among the first to employ green practices in the area. Minimal weeding of the roots and regular scrutiny of the vines keep treatments to a minimum. To control insects naturally and avoid extermination, pheromone is used to treat the vines. Pheromone eliminates breeding by causing a confusion which hinders the males from locating the females. Producer In 1989 Paul Buisse purchased over 173 acres of vineyards in the Touraine appellation, located around the city of Tours and bordering the Loire River - stretching from the Sologne region to the edge of Vienne and Anjou. Today the estate is run by owner and winemaker Pierre Chainier, who has garnered a reputation for crafting some of the best wines in the Touraine appellation. Pioneers in sustainable farming, the Chainier family were among the first to employ green practices. Consequently, vineyards are maintained according to a sustainable agriculture philosophy with the overall ecosystem in mind.
