But Rob\u0026rsquo;s first job was a harvest at an iconic Napa winery \u0026ndash; Chappellet.\u0026nbsp;. \n. \n. \n His friendly co-workers included pioneers in Napa wine \u0026ndash;\u0026nbsp;winemaker Cathy Corison, enologists Philip Titus (now Chappellet\u0026#39;s winemaker), John Gibson\u0026nbsp;and harvest intern Dave Long (David Arthur) \u0026ndash; a young team\u0026nbsp;who have since become legends in the Valley. \u0026ldquo;Dave and I used to tag team running an old valley foundry press and we had a blast,\u0026rdquo; Rob said. \u0026ldquo;We worked hard with many 12+ hour days and took a lot of pride in what we did.\u0026rdquo;\u0026nbsp; \n\n. Following his first foray into wine and graduation from the Fermentation Science program at Uc Davis, Rob jumped straight into work as an Assistant Winemaker at Schramsberg. \n\n. That\u0026rsquo;s where he learned the sparkling ropes \u0026ndash;\u0026nbsp;the ins and outs of producing everything from classic Blanc de Blancs to sparkling Ros\u0026eacute; in the m\u0026eacute;thode traditionnelle \u0026ndash;\u0026nbsp;right as Schramsberg was getting its footing as a Champagne contender. Rob signed on as the Davies were expanding their wine footprint and moving out of the estate\u0026#39;s 19th-century Victorian mansion \u0026ndash;\u0026nbsp;bringing it back to life as one of the most prestigious sparkling houses in America. \n\n \n. \u0026ldquo;I was fortunate to be hired at Schramsberg,\u0026rdquo; Rob said. \u0026ldquo;It set me on a path of bubbles!\u0026rdquo; \n \n\n. Building a sparkling reputation. \nRob earned his first official Winemaker title at Scharffenberger, where he helped the winery land a bubbly on Wine Spectator\u0026#39;s Top 100 list. From there, he spent 8 years for Remi Martin, including concurrent positions as winemaker for Piper Sonoma and production manager for Rms Distillery before landing a Director of Winemaking and V.p. of Winemaking and Operations positions at Mumm Napa. He\u0026nbsp;spent over a decade developing Mumm\u0026rsquo;s elegant portfolio \u0026ndash;\u0026nbsp;even collaborating with rock star Carlos Santana to produce the first edition of DVX.\u0026nbsp; \n\n.
