Rolf Binder Wines Shiraz / Mataro / Grenache

Rolf Binder Wines Shiraz / Mataro / Grenache

From Barossa Valley

Vintage: 2007
Description: 1/2 Price!!. "Round and inviting for its plum and cherry flavors, nicely framed by refined tannins, lingering expressively on the finish. Shiraz, Mataro and Grenache. Drink now through 2017. 3,000 cases made. –hs" (ws). "The 2007 Shiraz-Mataro Pressings has superb aromatics. Underbrush, truffle, licorice, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur scents lead to a youthful, structured, dense, layered wine which will benefit from 3-4 years of additional cellaring. Drink it from 2012 to 2019. " (wa). Winery Notes:. Three classic varieties have come together in this wine. The combination has produced a full bodied yet soft wine with a complex structure of the fruit oak and gentle tannins. Each variety adds its individual talents with nuances of chocolate, raspberry, beef stockpot and a berry fruit sweetness. The finish is dry and the flavours linger on the palate with subtle oak and tannin adding to the fruit characters creating a full and comprehensive wine that will drink well now but also benefit from cellaring. The Heinrich is named after Rolf Heinrich Binder, my father and founder of the family winery. I created this wine because of his love of the combination of shiraz, mataro and grenache. Heinrich is an estate wine with the shiraz coming from the Stephanie vineyard, the mataro from the Chri'ro vineyard planted in 1972 both of which adjoin the winery and the grenache from the Western Ridge vineyard at Gomersal and planted in the early 1950's.
