| Description: | Aged Demerara rum produced by Demerara Distillers Limited at Diamond Distillery, the last remaining distillery in Guyana Produced in accordance with the Demerara Rum Geographical Indication Distilled from molasses in the legendary Port Mourant double wooden vat still (pm) from the former Port Mourant estate Aged minimum 12 years in ex-bourbon casks The nose displays aromas of fresh fig, maple syrup, cacao, and limestone minerality; an oily palate delivers huge alternating waves of ripe tropical fruit and stewed berries with clove, oak, and pressed pineapple pulp on the finish 40% Abv The original still to produce the British Navy rum, the Port Mourant still was constructed in 1732 on the Port Mourant Estate from one of Guyanas most abundant natural resourcesgreenheart wood, an evergreen revered as one of the densest, most durable woods on Earth. Over 250 years old, the still was moved to the Uitvlugt Estate before finally finding a permanent home at Plantation Diamond where it has been producing small batches of this El Dorado heritage rum since the turn of the century. |
