Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 2eme Cru Classe Saint-Julien 1.5L

Vintage: 2019
Winery: Ducru-Beaucaillou
Description: One of the all-time great "Super Second" Bordeaux estates, Saint-Julien's Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a majestic, Victorian-style castle that stands one of the lasting symbols of the Médoc. While many Bordeaux châteaux get their names from their owners, Ducru-Beaucaillou's name derives from the large stones that punctuate its vineyards and characterize its terroir. Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the oldest Médoc estates, dating back to the thirteenth century; classified as a Second Growth in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855, the estate's modern era began in 1941, when the Borie family purchased the estate, and they own Ducru-Beaucaillou to this day. The estate's 247 gravelly acres are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and the vines average 40 years. The château hand-harvests its grapes and vinifies each lot separately in stainless steel, fermenting in concrete, and then blending and aging in bottles. The result is classic age-worthy, intense, balanced, and harmonious Saint-Julien Bordeaux, a favorite of collectors around the world.
