Lismore Viognier Reserve

Vintage: 2021
Description: This reserve bottling of Viognier was fermented in French oak (1/4 being new barrels), enhancing the natural richness from the grapes. The magic of this site is that it can lead to a decadent style of Viognier while holding its firm wash of acidity. Absolutely delicious!. "a burst of nectarine, green almond and preserved lemon flavors are enlivened by buoyant acidity in this lively white, with hints of quinine, anise, milled white pepper and orchard blossom adding detail. This is lushly creamy on the palate, yet mouthwatering and finely balanced, underscored by a streak of salty minerality that drives the finish. Drink now through 2030. 35 cases imported." - Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator. "Tucked into the foothills of a dramatic mountain range at the bottom of Africa is Lismore Estate Vineyards. Californian Samantha O'Keefe has found paradise and the perfect terroir. Her passion combined with vines planted at 300 meters, chilled by the winter snow and nourished by the African summer sun, produce classic cool climate wines which are rich, complex and lovingly hand crafted. With one of the coolest climates in South Africa with extreme diurnal temperature shifts, her wines presents us with a very distinct sense of place. One that tells a story in the glass. Lismore is the pioneer of Wine of origin "Greyton", it has been designated by Sawis recognizing the unique and special terroir of this region. Viognier, a traditional Rhone varietal is perfectly suited to Lismores extreme cool-climate terrior. The vineyard block is dryland farmed on decomposed shale and one of the healthiest and well balanced on the farm. The entire team looks forward to the Viognier harvest and the beautiful amber tinged berries. " - Winery Notes
