Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne (750ML)

Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne (750ML)

From Corton-Charlemagne

Vintage: 2017
Description: 97 Jm / 97 JS / 96+ Wa / 96 De / 96 Vm / 94 Bh. Fine bright pale primrose. There is some gunflint oil and some coconut here on the nose, suggesting both a hint of reduction and a touch of new wood. Everything went very smoothly in vinification, I am told. Pure clear and classic, absolutely the cool as a mountain stream style of stony Corton-Charlemagne. Medium weight shading to properly intense, very youthful but still a style that you can approach. Very persistent. Time will open it out further, and bring more nuance but this can already be seen. A very stylish, accurate and ageworthy Corton-Charlemagne. Tasted: January 2021.-Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy. The very complex nose of flint, dried pear, Amalfi lemon and fresh ginger pulls you inexorably into this super focused and racy Corton-Charlemagne that is still tightly wound. Wonderful silky texture at the very long crushed stone finish. So much energy and vitality it should age very well. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.--James Suckling. The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is showing superbly from bottle, wafting from the glass with a complex and beautifully integrated bouquet of pear, citrus oil, toasted sesame, warm bread, oyster shell and white flowers. On the palate, it's full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with a racy spine of acidity and superb concentration without weight, followed by a long, defined finish. Surpassing the high expectations I formed a year ago, this would appear to be the finest wine produced at Bonneau du Martray for over a decade. William Kelley – The Wine Advocate. Anyone who feared that quality would drop after a change of ownership at this historic domaine will be happy to know that this grand cru white is as good as ever. Blending components from three different terroirs and altitudes, it's an elegant, textured, saline white of incredible precision and understated power, with subtle toasty oak and undertones of jasmine and lemongrass. Tim Atkin – Decanter.com Drinking Window 2021 - 2029. Tasting note: An elegant, pure and admirably fresh nose flashes notes of smoked green apple, mineral reduction and white flower scents. The racy but lacy middle weight flavors possess both excellent detail and an abundance of minerality before culminating in a refreshing, dry and clean finish that is less austere than usual. This classic Cc is almost Chablis-like in its minerality and cut and should age well over the next decade. 2027+ Allen Meadows - Burghound
