Description: | Tim Atkin 96 Points: "This is quite the package with its bold, ber-fragrant nose of baked apple generosity elegantly accented by a halo of brown spice. Initially broad and powerful on the attack, an assertive and racy acidity transforms the mouthfeel. The smashed orchard fruits, dried bouquet and wet stone notes head into the long, vigorous and refreshing finish. It is a rather crunchy style of Btard and an excellent showing for these vines planted across a 50-year span from the 1930s to the 1980s.". Burghound 95 Points: "Note: from a.30 ha parcel in Chassagne. Fontaine indicated that this had been bottled the day before my late February visit yet somewhat surprisingly, there was no reduction in evidence on the beautifully layered and fresh nose displaying a panoply of white orchard fruit aromas suffused with hints of lemon zest, floral and spice nuances. The rich, suave and powerful broad-shouldered flavors are admirably refined while displaying superb length on the tightly wound and strikingly persistent finale. This impeccably well-balanced finale is also very clearly built-to-age and I would suggest not even thinking about opening a bottle for at least 5 years. In a word, outstanding.*Burghound Don't Miss!* |
