Earthworks Shiraz

From Barossa Valley

Vintage: 2006
Description: "The 2006 Shiraz saw an identical regimen of tank and barrel. Purple-colored, it exhibits aromas of smoke, sausage, bacon, and blueberry which jumps from the glass. Medium-bodied, ripe, and sweet with no hard edges, this superb value can be enjoyed over the next 4-6 years." (wa). "($16) Saturated red. Spicy red berries and cherry on the nose, with tangy mint and camphor qualities adding complexity. Fresh and juicy on the palate, offering wild strawberry and raspberry flavors, vibrant minerality and an exotic peach pit note. A refreshingly clean, brisk style that finishes with good grip and sneaky persistence." (iwc). Winery Notes:. Australian Earthworks has a fi erce commitment to quality as well as to preserving the heritage of the Barossa. The wines are produced from grapes harvested in the vineyards of trusted Barossa growers. As Australia is one of the oldest continents, Earthworks grapes are grown on soils up to 600 million years old, which are free draining, mineral rich and in one of the cleanest climates on the planet. Traditional winemaking and minimal processing are employed to ensure the purity, integrity, texture and fl avor of the vines. In the words of winemaker, Tyson Bitter, "This is the essence of making a top wine and having fun doing it!" The Earthworks wines are deliberately bottled under a screw cap seal to ensure the quality always remains untainted.
