Talai Berri Txakolina, Getariako Spain
Vintage: | 2018 |

Description: | Fruity, crisp and clean from Spain's Basque country, this wine has a slight spritz. Tropical fruit - pineapple, guava - and citrus - orange/tangerine - this is a delightfully fresh wine. It is round and creamy on the palate from time spent on its lees. Hondarribi Zuri grapes - the main white grape of Spain's Basque country - are harvested, pressed, then fermented in stainless steel tanks. Until recently, fermentation took place in oak or chestnut barrels called kupels. The CO2 in the tank prevents oxidation and dissolves some of the sediments creating the slight spritz. So the sparkle is left, the wine is not racked. Wonderfully fresh aromas of citrus - lemon, tangerine - and orchard fruit - golden apple, pears - jasmine and salty marine air. Very juicy texture replicating the aromas with great persistence ending with a minerally note. Pair with olives, anchovies, seafood, sushi. |
