Moderately smoky and peaty like many single malts, with light spice notes and an increasingly pleasant after-taste, Haig Gold Label has a simplicity borne of superb blending; it is naturally full-bodied, satisfying as a true 'real whisky'. The smoky character makes it perhaps more for experienced whisky tasters, rather than a 'first' whisky for someone to try, but whisky fans may find Haig Gold Label quite worth the sampling. After receiving a bottle as a gift it is now my favourite blended whisky of all. An excellent straight whisky, also robust enough to be enjoyed with a fine cigar, or with a salty snack as well. |
