Chateauneuf-du-Pape La Crau des Papes Bernard

Vintage: 2017
Description: The 27-hectare estate dates back to the 17th century and belongs to the Puget family since then. The Domaine vineyards are located in the area of La Crau, notable for its pebble soils, which ranks as one of the best and most historic terroirs of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape Appellation. Black Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Deep red colour with violet hints. Complex aromas of black cooked fruits with spicy and balsamic notes. Expressive, round and generous palate with smooth tannins. Very supple start and a long finish of spicy tones. Open it at least 1 hour before serving at around 18°C. Although excellent now, this wine will gain in complexity and elegance with a cellaring period of 8 to 10 years. Ideal with large game, spicy dishes, red meat in sauce and ripened cheese. Region Description. (shah toe nuf doo pahp)—Situated on the sun-baked southern reaches of the Rhone Valley, this appellation grows a great number of grape varieties, but is best known for its full-bodied dry reds. As many as thirteen different kinds of grape can end up in one bottle, although most vintners use only three or four, especially Syrah, Mourvédre, and Grenache.
