Hancock PRESIDENT'S Reserve Single Barrel 44.45% Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whkiskey

Hancock PRESIDENT'S Reserve Single Barrel 44.45% Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whkiskey

Description: In 1775, the Leestown settlement was established along the banks of the Kentucky River by Willis and Hancock Lee. Soon this became a well-known shipping port for tobacco, hemp and whiskey. The Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey pays tribute to the pioneering spirit of Hancock Lee. Hancock's Reserve comes from Buffalo Trace's mash bill #2 and has a higher rye content, evident in the spiciness present. While not as well known as its cousins (Blanton's, Elmer T. Lee, Rock Hill Farms), this is another winning thoroughbred from the Buffalo Trace family. Rich and spicy in the nose, sweet notes of vanilla and baking spices, honey and tropical fruits lay down a foundation that soon is echoed on the palate. Soft and viscous from the first sip, a touch of heat leads to a reiteration of the nose with flavor additions in the mouth: spicy and sweet, more honeyed tones and vanilla, cereal grains and wafer cookies, custard cream, baking spices, warm finish. Enjoy neat, with ice or spring water (however you like) and keep the summer heat at bay. Mint Julep, anyone?. The Perfect Mint Julep. 2 cups granulated sugar. 2 cups water. Fresh Mint. Crushed Ice. Hancock's Reserve Bourbon (2 ounces per serving). Make a simple mint syrup by boiling sugar and water together for 5 minutes; cool. Place in a covered container with 6 or 8 bruised mint sprigs. Refrigerate overnight. Make a julep by filling a julep cup or glass with crushed ice, then adding 1 tablespoon of mint syrup and 2 ounces of bourbon. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost outside of cup or glass. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig. This makes enough syrup for about 44 juleps.
