Sori Della Sorba Langhe Nebbiolo DOC

Vintage: 2021
Description: The story of Sorì della Sorba unfolds in the rugged, biodiverse hillsides of Piemonte, nestled between the Mediterranean breezes and the crisp Italian Alps. This exceptional site, known for its ancient limestone soils mixed with clay, sand, and rock, offers a unique terroir that imparts remarkable expression, structure, and elegance to its wines. The vineyard, named after the Italian term "Sorì," meaning "Cru," is a south-facing amphitheater surrounded by a lush oak forest. The 3.7-hectare plot is planted with local varieties such as Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera, with some vines dating back to the 1950s. Carlo Mondavi and Giovanna Bagnasco, multi-generational winegrowers, approach their craft with a deep respect for agriculture and a commitment to site-driven wines. They employ a blend of permaculture and biodynamic practices to cultivate their vineyard in harmony with nature. In the cellar, they focus on capturing the vineyard's delicate notes through native whole-cluster fermentations and aging in large Slavonian oak botti. The wines are bottled without fining or filtration to preserve their pure, nuanced characteristics. Mondavi and Bagnasco's goal is to share the essence of their estate through two distinct bottlings: one showcasing the pure expression of Nebbiolo, and the other, a blend of Piedmontese varieties, reflecting the estate as a whole.
