Pepiere Muscadet Sevre Maine La Pepie
Vintage: | 2023 |

Description: | 100% Melon de Bourgogne. Classic Muscadet on granite. The core of the "La PĂŠpie" Sur Lie bottling is the 10-hectare heart of the PĂŠpière estate, which is part of the Clisson cru in the tiny commune of PĂŠpière near the winery; there is also a portion of purchased fruit from a nearby organic farmer friend in the mix. PĂŠpière's farming is certified-biodynamic and the harvest by hand. The bunches are direct-pressed and the juice settled for 12 hours. It is fermented in stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts; the wine is aged on its lees for 6-8 months in large, underground, glass-lined cement tanks. It is bottled without filtration. John Gilman 92 Points - ""The Muscadet âla PĂŠpieâ from Domaine de la PĂŠpière is the first example from this appellation that I have tasted from the 2023 vintage and fully underscores just how favored Muscadet was in this difficult growing season. The vibrant bouquet hops from the glass in a complex combination of green apple, lime, lovely minerality, briny notes of ocean breeze and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is zesty, precise and full-bodied, with an excellent core of fruit, lovely mineral drive and cut, a fine spine of acidity and lovely precision on the long, impeccably balanced and complex finish. This is excellent Muscadet and a stunning value! 2024- 2045.". Winemaker's Notes. The cuvee Domaine de la Pepiere are produced on a 12-hectare land. This vineyard is located on the hillside of the Maine, on a highly stony soil. The vines are 25 years old on average. The soils are very filtering, with lots of gravel. These characteristics allow an early ripening. Grapes are harvested manually, then are carried to the wine cellar with much care. The pneumatic press is filled by gravity, and grapes are not crushed. A very slight racking enables the yeasts which are naturally present, to induce fermentation. This cuvee is left on its lees until spring, without any racking. The 2023 vintage maintains its classic lemony, stony and briny quality. This is a great bottle of Muscadet!. Organically farmed |
