American Whiskey Definition: A whiskey distilled from one or a combination of fermented grain (Corn, Barley, Rye, Wheat, etc) to no more than 95% Abv. Must taste like what we know as a whiskey in general and stored in oak barrel. It must be bottled with a minimum of 40% Abv. In order to be classified as a American âStraightâ Whiskey it has to be aged for at least two years in new, charred oak for a minimum of two years.
