Maccario Dringenberg Rossese Di Dolceacqua "F.LLI Maccario 1922 "
Vintage: | 2022 |
---|---|
Description: | The Rossese variety has been growing in Liguria for a long time, evolving in its own way relative to its form in Provence, where it's known as Tibouren. In Liguria's hilly Dolceacqua area, it's known for making elegant, medium-bodied reds with a lightly aromatic floral and Mediterranean herbal character. The dry heat of 2022 growing season gives this warm, sun-kissed tones and a finish with grounding, earthy tannins. Ideal with roasted or grilled veggies as well as grilled, meaty fish and chicken with aromatic herbs (rosemary, thyme, lavender.herbs de provence!). "Giovanna Maccario is the daughter of one the pioneers of viticulture in Western Liguria, already bottling Rossese wines in the early seventies. Twenty years ago Giovanna began taking care of the vineyards and cellar located in the township of San Biagio della Cima, in the heart of the Dolceacqua district, nestled between two steep valleys that lead to the Ligurian Sea, just a couple of miles away. The vines, some of them over a hundred years old, are trained in the alberello system (Provenal bush-vines) and are planted at such incline that no mechanized work is possible. All the tending and the harvesting are done by hand." |
