Description: | 95 JS / 93 Ko / 92 Vm / 17.5 Jr. A very fine-tannined red with dark-berry, rose-hip, bark and cedar character. It's medium-bodied with firm tannins that are polished and juicy. Hints of ash and spice to it all. Shows class and structure. Best after 2026.-James Suckling. Fragrant and refined, the 2019 Brunello from Villa Poggio Salvi is lovely, with enticing aromas of blue flower, underbrush, tobacco and ripe plum. On the savory full-bodied palate, polished tannins accompany ripe black cherry, blackberry and licorice. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. Drink 2027–2034. Abv: 14.5% Kerin O'Keefe. The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is youthfully coy, wafting up with a pretty blend of dried strawberries, rose petals and fresh mint. It flows easily across the palate, lifted and spry, showcasing tart red and blue fruits as tactile mineral tones form toward the close. The 2019 finishes perfumed and long, with a staining of blackberry and sage as edgy tannins resonate. Patience will be required.-Eric Guido, Vinous Media. Deep ruby with orange tinges. Deep, inviting cherry nose with balsamic herbs and mint. A generous dose of cherry fruit on the palate with gripping, ripe tannins. Lots of vigour on the finish and still a little embryonic.-Walter Speller, JancisRobinson |
