Chalk Hill Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Vintage: 2018
Description: Winemaker Notes\r\n\r\n\r\nOur 2018 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is dark ruby in color and displays expressive aromas of black cherry and plum backed by subtle notes of mocha and vanilla. The palate is medium bodied with bright acidity and juicy flavors that are characteristic of this cool-climate region. Our Pinot Noir finishes with velvety soft tannins and lingering notes of dark chocolate. This is a fruit-forward, approachable and elegant wine that should be enjoyed upon release.\r\nAbout Chalk Hill Winery\r\n\r\nOn a spring day in 1972, while piloting his plane over the Russian River, Chalk Hill\u2019s founder, Fred Furth, caught his first view of a natural amphitheatre carved into the hills of eastern Sonoma. His intuition told him the land had the potential to support a world-class vineyard. A subsequent tour confirmed that the spectacular property indeed had the climate and soils to grow luxury-class wine grapes.\r\nPerhaps no other winery captures the casual luxury of Sonoma County better than Chalk Hill Estate. Founded nearly four decades ago, this spectacular 1300-acre property features 300 acres of vineyards, wilderness areas, winery, hospitality center, culinary garden, residence, stables, and equestrian pavilion.\r\nThe winery\u2019s vineyards are thoughtfully woven through the native foliage and contoured to fit the intricate terrain. More than two-thirds of the Chalk Hill Estate remains uncultivated. The higher elevations offer stunning views of the Russian River Valley to the west and the Mayacamas Mountains to the east.
