| Description: | With many decades of experience and pedigree, Matanzas Creek is a go-to producer of classic varietals in Alexander Valley. With extensive estate holdings, all certified sustainable, this wine is sourced from nine different blocks of benchland and hillside plantings. All fruit was picked before the 2017 wildfires. After a long cold soak, the wine fermented for a further 15 days on skins before being pressed to barrel. The wine was then aged for 18 months in 28% new French oak. Very classic Merlot with generous dark fruit, cocoa nib, hints of cedar and tobacco. Fine, silky tannins and a lush, soft texture. (Ryan Woodhouse - K&L Domestic Wine Buyer). |
