Fossil Point Cabernet Paso Robles

Vintage: 2017
Description: Tasting Notes\r\nDense and dark, with fruit character of ripe cherry, dried plum and cocoa. French oak and sandalwood tones frame the tannins which suggest carob and walnut. Delicious and rich, but with enough balance to be well-suited at the table.\r\nFossil Point pays tribute to this bond between sea and vine. Drawing from the best that our region has to offer, we are committed to making Sustainable, Authentic wines that pair perfectly with our casual Coastal lifestyle.\r\nAbout Fossil Point\r\nOn the Central Coast of California, our vines are never far from the influence of the sea. Sunny afternoons give way to cool marine breezes, and the growing season is directly shaped by the seasonal flow of the currents and surface temperature of the nearby Pacific Ocean. \u00a0Our vines take root in coarse sand, calcareous shale, and fossilized oyster beds - all remnants of the ancient sea floor.\r\nFossil Point pays tribute to this bond between sea and vine. Located less than five miles west of the winery, Fossil Point is a rugged headland with sweeping views of the Central California coastline. \u00a0Standing atop Fossil Point, you will enjoy the same ocean breezes that are on their way to our vineyards, where they guide our fruit to perfect ripeness.\r\nSUSTAINABLE\r\nOur delicate coastal ecosystem is a web of dependency. The health of our seas depends upon the care taken in farming our vines. Much of our food comes from the sea and estruaries, coastal farmland and open range in the hills. The vibrance of our local economy depends upon healthy seashores and the protection of beautiful agricultural vistas. At Fossil Point, we are actively involved in making our community a safe, diverse and desirable place for ourselves and our workers to raise their families.\r\nSustainable agriculture is an act of trust in this web. All of our Estate vineyards, as well as the farmers from whom we purchase fruit are engaged in sustainable winegrowing practices. The majority are certified under the Sustainability in Practice (sip) program, which was developed right here on the Central Coast. With careful metrics and annual audits, Sip provides a set of standards to promote the long-term health of our vineyards, environment, people, and businesses.
