Description: | Dr. Loosen is a 200-year-old estate in Mosel, Germany. Ernest Loosen took over the family estate in 1988 and has continued to improve the already noteworthy Rieslings made at Dr. Loosen. The estate includes six Grand Cru vineyards and produces white wines that range from sweet to dry. Gault Millau annual guide to German wines named Ernest Loosen German winemaker of the year in 2001. Wine writer Jancis Robinson has written that âErnie Loosen has single-handedly put German wine on the world stage and into the 21st century. He has done it by a mixture of irreverence, tireless traveling and an uncompromising quest for quality. 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The 2002 Riesling Auslese Erdener Pralat sports a nose of candied apples. Light to medium-bodied, creamy-textured, and broad, this wine offers flavors reminiscent of liquid minerals, creamy spices, and poached/spice pears. It is rich, concentrated, and supple. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2025. (PR) (2/2004) 90 points Wine Enthusiast In contrast to the delicate, ethereal nature of Loosen's â02 Ărziger WĂźrzgarten auslese, this is a plump, rich wine filled with nectarine, honey and lime flavors. Despite a modest finish, this wine has loads of up-front appeal. (8/2004) |
