Vintage: 2011
Description: Ehlers Estate, Merlot, Napa Valley, Ca 2011 {biodynamic, non-profit} 92% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon Toasty, Spicy Oak, Black Currant, Milk Chocolate In 1985, French entrepreneur and philanthropist Jean Leducq began acquiring small parcels of vineyard land in Napa Valley's acclaimed St. Helena appellation. The goal was to create one contiguous estate producing wines in the Bordeaux style. Today, Ehlers Estate is completely non-profit with all proceeds going to cardiovascular research. They are also certified organic and farm biodynamically. Eighteen months in 40% new French oak barrels brings a rich spicy vanilla quality to all the black currant and cherry fruit. Super dark, extracted, and heartfelt. Serving Suggestion: Grilled lean, beef like a tenderloin in morels or with garlic, cilantro, soy sauce and red chili marinated flank steak.
