| Description: | Planted to 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the Trotanoy estate has vines averaging 40 years with just under 18 acres of vines. Since 1953, Trotanoy has been owned by the firm of Jean-Pierre Moueix, and is located one kilometer to the west of Chateau Petrus between the church of Pomerol and the village of Catusseau, and near Le Pin and Lafleur. Its prized soils of clay and gravel often produce wines of Second Growth quality, and in its history these soils have even made profound First Growth quality wines. Today, the wine is vinified and handled in exactly the same way as Moeuix vinified Petrus for years, except only 40% new oak barrels are used each year. |
