Caymus Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon,

Caymus Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon,

Cabernet Sauvignon 100% from North Coast, Napa Valley, California

Vintage: 2012
Winery: Caymus
Description: Caymus Vineyards' Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most desirable and relatively keenly-priced Cabernets in the entire Napa Valley; with great structure, balanced by real finesse and a velvety texture. Caymus was established in 1971 by Charles F. (Charlie) and Lorna Belle Glos Wagner and their son Charles J. (Chuck), and produced their first vintage in 1972, just 240 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, it remains 100% family-owned (production is 65, 000 cases), with Chuck's children having joined the team in faming 350 acres of prime Napa land. The name Caymus comes from the Mexican land grant known as Rancho Caymus, which was originally given to George Yount in 1836 and encompasses what became the town of Rutherford and the surrounding area. "Iconic wine and iconic vintage that delivers. This dense wine has aromas of blackberry jam, cassis and violets, followed by flavors of creme de cassis, blackberry and mocha. Dense and round, this thing is ready to drink and expresses the best of this wonderful vintage." Wine Spectator.
