Monterotondo "SERETINA" Riserva Chianti Classico
Vintage: | 2019 |
---|---|
Description: | 95% Sangiovese & 5% Malvasia Nera. This is a good old-fashioned Riserva, made using a traditional method of submerging the Sangiovese skins in the wine to slowly extract for 4+ months. The wine is then aged for 3 years in a mix of seasoned oak barrels. This, with their location high on a hill of Gaiole, near the abbey of Coltibuono, allows the wine to have an elegance despite its deep, brooding character with earthy, dark-red tones and worn cedar. Importer Oliver McCrum describes notes of "cherries, marzipan, tea, spices, forest floor, a hint of mint," but with everything mingling as one. On the palate, it's broad, savory and mellow. Sangiovese's tangy acidity well tucked into the mouthfeel, giving it an inner, smoldering livliness. In the 2019 vintage, the tannins are softly grainy, giving the wine an approachable demeanor with just a little time in the decanter or glass. This is a wine for dishes like rich wild boar ragu', meat stews with earthy beats, and roasted mushrooms. This is a taste of old Tuscany!. Unfiltered, naturally settled. Organically Farmed |
