| Description: | The Prisoner was inspired by the "mixed blacks" first made by the Italian immigrants who originally settled in Napa Valley. The Prisoner is now the most recognized Napa Valley red blend, leading the resurgence of interesting blends by incorporating Zinfandel with the unlikely mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Charbono. This Napa Valley cult favorite has a deep, nearly opaque reddish black color with aromas of black currant, dark black berry, cherry, cassis and toasty oak. The entry of the wine is simply massive with a lush mid-palate framed by gentle acidity and sweet, supple tannins. Aged in 30% new oak, a combination of French and American. This new vintage will once again impress lovers of concentrated, heady California red wines. Serve this on its own as the 'showstopper' of the evening, or with prime rib, fiery chile con carne, or hunks of cheddar and parmiggiano reggiano cheeses. |
