Famille Perrin Vinsobres Les Cornuds

Famille Perrin Vinsobres Les Cornuds

Syrah

Vintage: 2017
Winery: Famille Perrin
Description: The Perrin family has become the most important winemaking family of the Southern Rhône Valley and its diverse terroirs. With the same expertise and the same passion as they have for their flagship estate Château de Beaucastel, the family prides itself in bringing out the true character of each area within the Southern Rhône Valley. The 'Famille Perrin' way makes each wine unique: using organic and biodynamic approaches, mastering the art of blending and bringing out the freshness of the Southern aromas. The most northern vineyard of the southern Rhône is Vinsobres The Perrin family owns about 60 hectares in one single plot in Vinsobres. The average altitude is 300 metres on hills and terraces. The village itself is a beautiful one located near Vaison la Romaine. Vinsobres is particularly suitable for Syrah because it preserves the finesse which is often lost in more southern climates. It develops notes of violet, smoked meat and blackberries. Grenache is also suited to this terroir, full bodied and not heavy, with notes of black chocolate, cherry and typical garrigue aromas. The entire harvest is destemmed for the Les Cornuds. Syrah is vinified in wooden truncated tanks that are punched down and pumped over. The Grenache is vinified in stainless steel tanks. The Syrah is partly aged in one year old oak barrels. Blending takes place after malolactic fermentation and the wines age for a least 6 months before being released. This 2010 was also chosen as a Top 100 Wine of 2012 in the Wine Spectator
