Description: | Alejandro Fernandez, well-known as the owner/winemaker for Pesquera, has scored a home run with this delicious Tempranillo. It began when he discovered an abandoned hillside on the banks of the River Duero in themid-1980s that seemed to bring together the ideal conditions to become one of the best vineyards of the region. It had a gentle south-facing slope that ended in the river and different soils composed of gravel, clay and gypsum that promised to produce the nuances needed to create complex wines from Tempranillo. The results of his discovery speak from the bottle and more than a few critics have heard the call. James Suckling 93 Points - "Flattering, with ripe, minty blackberries, black plums, tobacco, hazelnuts and a hint of mocha. A full-bodied, tightly wound red with powerful but creamy tannins that will need a year or two to soften more. Long, creamy finish.". Wine Enthusiast 93 Points - "Dark garnet in color, this wine has aromas of blackberry, raspberry and chocolate covered espresso bean. It is smooth on the palate, with polished tannins and berry flavors joined by notes of milk chocolate, cocoa powder, anisette and violet that wend their way to a floral and fruit finish."
