Las Cartas is an amazing high elevation blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, sourced from the La Esperanza vineyard, located at 2,100 feet above sea level in Alto Cachapoal. The Wine Buyer has actually been to this breathtaking vineyard, which is the last stop before the ascent up the Andes Mountain. Crafted by the cult winery Lagar de Bezana, they first appeared on our radar after a Wine Spectator article featured them back in 2013. Las Cartas strikes a fine balance between ripe fruit, fresh acidity and silky tannins. It's a big wine for a little price and has quickly become a customer favorite. Napa Valley might have their mountain fruit, but this one from Chile comes with an under $10 price tag. |
