| Description: | This is a rare bottling of the Nebbiolo Rose' variety, which tends toward a more delicate and lifted in perfumed compared with other Barbarescos of the vintage (it was historically thought of as a type of Nebbiolo, and so maintains its well-earned status in both Barolo and Barbaresco). Sourced from the Casasse vineyard - planted in 1913 - and purchased by grower/winemaker Natale Simonetta's family in 1979 when they took over the Cascina Baricchi estate. Traditional techniques of gentle foot crushing; long fermentation/maceration, with a final 2 weeks using the submerged cap technique to keep the skins in contact with juice; and aged 3 years in mid-sized, 500-800L barrels. Minimal sulfite additions. |
