Pahlmeyer Pinot Noir Sonoma County

Vintage: 2005
Description: 92 Points Wine Advocate. The newest baby for Green and Pahlmeyer is their Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast. The 2005 Pinot Noir is tasting beautifully. There are 1,500 cases of this wine, which has a deep ruby color, a superb nose of raspberries, crushed rocks, and some subtle background oak. It is full-bodied, ripe, generous, with some forest floor-like notes reminiscent of a top red Burgundy. Drink it over the next 5-7 years. The charismatic Jayson Pahlmeyer and his exuberant winemaker, Erin Green, who apprenticed for Helen Turley for many years, are turning out some fabulous wines. I terribly underestimated their 2005 reds. However, there's always time to correct these things, and I intend to do it with the following notes. Things just seem to get better and better at Pahlmeyer, a long-standing, brilliant, remarkably consistent source for one of Napa's finest Merlots, Chardonnays, and Pinot Noirs.
