The original vineyards are planted on lands recognized as far back as the 1800's as ideal for grape cultivation. Superior soil content, gently sloping hills, unusual prevailing wind patterns, ample sunlight and proximity to the deep waters of Seneca Lake are all individually important ingredients which contribute to the production of first-class grapes and, therefore, first-class wines. Owner Mark Wagner comes from a grape-growing family and has spent his entire life working with grapes. Today he applies his many years of experience to the delicate task of cultivating European vinifera grape varieties and to the production of premium award-winning wines. Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars is a member of the Finger Lakes Wine Guild, a group of wineries focused on the production of world class wines from classic European grape varieties. Wine Director 87 points - #63 Top 100 Best Buys Of 2020 - The nose of this wine is stony and earthy in crushed limestone, with accents of citrus peels and bright spring blossoms rounding it out. The palate shows more ripeness in the way of juicy peach and apple tones, making this a pleasantly plump, semidry Riesling. It is poised in feel and propped up by well-integrated acidity. A kiss of citrus lingers on the close. Earthy, dusty mineral tones on the nose fade to reveal juicy grapefruit and red apple on the palate of this approachable off-dry Riesling. Bright, lemony acidity lends vitality to a moderately long finish. |
