It plays its cards carefully, thanks to a slow-moving bouquet characterized by redcurrant and tart cherry. It gains power on the palate with polished tannins and tight structure. Give this bottle a few more years to unwind. -Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate. Taking on a bit more depth and complexity, the 2019 Barbaresco Serraboella Sori Paitin offers up notes of anise, clove, orange zest, and raspberry compote. Maintaining a stylistic medium frame, it has a more apparent and notable structure, with ripe tannins and a bit of a grounded feel, with the rich mineral texture of crushed stones. It is a bit reserved at the moment and may very well develop beyond its current rating given time. I would recommend another couple of years in bottle and drinking over the following 15 years.-Jeb Dunnuck. This red has a mineral streak running through it, with a distinctive graphite note permeating the cherry and raspberry core, plus earth, tobacco and menthol accents that add depth. Plays out on the finish with a taut, linear profile. Best from 2026 through 2045. - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator. Intensely spicy aromas recalling sandalwood and star anise join scents of botanical herb, violet and new leather on this fragrant red. The focused palate is still youthfully austere and primary, offering tart pomegranate, orange zest and licorice set against racy acidity and tight, close-grained tannins. Drink 2029–2044. - Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast. A very pretty center palate and depth of fruit with ripe strawberries and citrus with some flowers as well. Medium to full body, very fine tannins and a tangy and fresh finish. Just a couple of years in bottle will render this beautiful. Drink after 2024. - James Suckling. The 2019 Paitin Barbaresco Sorí Paitin Serraboella is dark ruby with a garnet rim. There are some slight lifted, polish notes and fragrant, floral, vibrant spice aromas. It is a little rounded in terms of viscosity, yet texturally rich, crunchy and firm with slightly drying tannins. It is very nicely done with a lingering savory finish. Approach from 2023-2024, but it will last 15 years. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent. Pale ruby. Dusty and brooding and a little richer than their Faset of the same vintage. With aeration sweetly perfumed red fruit with savoury spicy notes. The longer it is in the glass, the more depth it shows. Lively cranberry and raspberry fruit with lots of acidity and some serious tannins gripping the fruit without overwhelming it. A gorgeous but very muscular structure that is finely balanced by the fruit and with plenty of ageing potential.-Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com
