Margaux Confidences de Prieure Lichine 750ml

Margaux Confidences de Prieure Lichine 750ml

Vintage: 2016
Description: Description: This is the second bottling of Chateau Prieure-Lichine which is a Classified 4th growth (designated 4 out of the 10 growth classes, during the Official Bordeaux Classification of 1855). Relatively higher proportion of Merlot is accounted for the fact that in Margaux, located within a part of the Medoc appellation, the soils have more clay and less deep gravel, and are better suited to the balance of this varietal. The estate changed hands in 1999 with a major focus on quality enhancement by the Ballande Group and wine consultant, Stephane Derenoncourt. The results are obvious in this clean, mature, fruity, dry red, with smooth tannins. Great balance. Very drinkable now and will continue to improve. The wine exhibits deep violet color with aromas of old barn wood and dried mullberrries. On the palate, solid gripping tannins with dried black trumpet mushroom, tobacco, and mullberries. The earth expression is restrained but nice medium to full-bodied weight. Bright acidity will help this wine develop for the next several years. After decanting or resting for 24 hours the aromatics open into a violet and potpourri character with notes of saddle leather, black tea, and red hibiscus flower.
