| Description: | Winemaker's Notes:. Planted in 1990, our Estate Cabernet vineyard consistently produces fruit that exceeds our expectations. Our vineyard is all clone 7 planted on St. George rootstock, which is a perfect match for Calistoga's well drained, volcanic and loamy soil. 2018 was a great growing year, with consistent temperatures allowing the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly. This type of weather produces fruit with impressive flavors at a young age. This vintage is complex and powerful, yet balanced, with aromas of currant, butterscotch and sage and fruit-forward on the palate with notes of blackberry and cassis, finishing with refined tannins. Pair this with a filet au poivre or braised short ribs. For a more fruit forward wine with bolder tannins, drink now, or age up to 15 years for an earthier wine with soft tannins. |
