Hatzidakis Assyrtiko Familia, Santorini
Vintage: | 2021 |
---|---|
Description: | Haridimos Hatzidakis, originally from Crete, lived and made wine on the volcanic island of Santorini. His wife and daughters now run the winery since his untimely death. The 2021 Santorini is a wonderfully full-flavored dry Greek white with a seam of ripe acidity at its heart that gives it vitality. It is composed of 100% organically-farmed Assyrtico. The highly regarded English wine journal, Decanter, describs Hatzidakis Assyrtikos as having honey-baked fruits, banana leaf, jasmine, flowers, pine, lime and grapefruit lift. They are mmediately lively and bold on the full-throttle, textured, harmonious palate and have mouthwatering freshness with dry lemon-curd ripeness, underlined by punchy minerality. British wine writer Jancis Robinson praises the Hatzidakis Assyrtikos wonderful combination of citrus and minerals with quite a broad ripe palate structure but no shortage of acidity. |
