Combining strength and finesse, it opens with enticing aromas of iris, wild rose, botanical herb and hay while the linear, savory palate delivers cranberry, sour cherry, star anise and blood orange. It's still youthfully austere, with vibrant acidity and firm tannins. Give it time to fully develop. Drink 2029–2039. Abv: 14% Kerin O'Keefe. Spicy, with a very noble feel, the 2019 Barolo Villero is a pale ruby hue and offers upfront aromas of candied orange peel, ripe raspberries, and red cherry, as well as a hint of rustic wild herbs, with darker undercurrents of violets, black fruit, pine sap, and truffle coming through. Medium-bodied and powerfully structured, with taut tannins and bright acidity, it's mouthwatering and sanguine with salty earth and mineral backbone. It demands some time in the cellar and will drink at its best 2026-2056.-Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.
